Yoga Books
- Kripalu Yoga: A Guide of Practice on and Off the Mat (2006), Shoban Richard Faulds. This new book is the only complete resource on Kripalu Yoga. Its 400 pages provide user-friendly instructions for posture practice suitable for beginners, as well as a wealth of guidance and exercises for yoga enthusiasts wanting to deepen their practice. The book also features in-depth consideration of the off-the-mat approaches to emotional, psychological, and spiritual health that make Kripalu Yoga so unique.
- Yoga Posture Adjustments and Assisting: An Insightful Guide for Yoga Teachers and Students (2006), Stephanie Pappas. While Stephanie is not a Kripalu teacher, I have included this book because it the only book I am aware of that is devoted to posture assisting and many of the manipulative assists pictured in the book are similar to those used by Devarshi in his teaching.
- Self-Awakening Yoga: The Expansion of Consciousness through the Body's Own Wisdom (Book and CD), Don Stapleton (Brahmanand), PhD. Don has taught worldwide since 1976 and was teacher and director of Kripalu Center for 19 years. He is Kripalu’s Dean of Yoga Education and the Director of the Kripalu Symposium on Yoga Therapeutics.
- The Wisdom of Yoga (2006), Stephen Cope. Cope investigates the sophisticated wisdom tradition of yoga from the point of view of six contemporary characters - modern yogis struggling with the issues of love, work, addictions, careers, and unfulfilled longings of many varieties. Each chapter weaves together narrative story and expository teachings to bring alive the rich, and very relevant, applications of yoga's ancient teachings.
- Yoga and the Quest for the True Self (2000), Stephen Cope. Cope's nationally best-selling book is a must read.
